2024 Summer Homework
Welcome to AP Biology and/or AP Environmental Science!
The purpose of summer homework is to prepare you for the rigor of AP Biology and/or AP Environmental Science. If you think, "AP is difficult," then let me respond, "ANYTHING is difficult if you don't put time and effort."
We begin learning the content on day one and this homework is DUE the first day of school.
You will complete assignment #1 and #2 for BOTH AP Biology and AP Environmental Science. If you are taking BOTH please complete assignment #1 and #2 one time ONLY.
Assignment #3 is ONLY for AP Biology and Assignment #4 is ONLY for AP Environmental Science.
Assignment #1:
Objective: The purpose of this assignment is to give you guidelines on taking notes. Due to the fast pace of the class I expect all students to be able to take notes when I explain the content. Watch the video on taking notes and if the video is not enough do your own research on taking notes.
Note: You DO NOT submit anything for this assignment, just watch the video!
Assignment #2:
Objective: The purpose of this assignment is to get tips on how to study effectively. You will take notes using the techniques from the first video and submit your notes. The notes are due on the first day of school.
Note: You will SUBMIT your notes on the first day of school. Write your name and the class (AP Biology and/or AP Environmental Science).
Assignment #3 (AP Biology ONLY):
Objective: The purpose of this assignment is to introduce the first unit (chemistry and macromolecules).
Instructions: Watch the College Board Video using the link and take notes. Use what you learned from video #1 and #2 to write and understand the video. I will start teaching this topic on the first day of school. I expect everyone to have questions!
Note: You will SUBMIT your notes on the first day of school. Write your name and the class title: AP Biology.
Assignment #4 (AP Environmental Science ONLY):
Objective: The purpose of this assignment is to introduce the first unit (ecosystems and biodiversity).
Instructions: Watch the College Board video using the link and take notes. Use what you learned from video #1 and #2 to write and understand the video content. I will start teaching this topic on the first day of school. I expect everyone to have questions!
Note: You will SUBMIT your notes on the first day of school. Write your name and the class title: AP Environmental Science.
AP Biology is an introductory college-level biology course. We explore the following topics: evolution, cellular processes, energy and communication, genetics, information transfer, ecology and interactions.
AP Exam: May 16, 2024
AP Environmental Science combines the topics of geology, biology, environmental studies, environmental science, chemistry, and geography. The course identifies human-made environmental problems and some solutions.
AP Exam: May 9, 2024

Dr. Aceves graduated from Manual Arts HS and attended Loyola Marymount University. She enjoys walking, anime and writing.
